Review: 24-HOUR PLAY FESTIVAL at Contemporary Theater
January 17, 2023

What did our critic think of 24-HOUR PLAY FESTIVAL at Contemporary Theater? It's been 18 years that Contemporary Theater Company has been putting on this 24-hour play festival, an amazing concoction of stories and actors and action that just can't be compared to anything else because, frankly, there is nothing else like it.

Review: THE KAT & DAVE SHOW: AN EVENING WITH DAVID FOSTER & KATHARINE MCPHEE at Providence Performing Arts Center
Review: THE KAT & DAVE SHOW: AN EVENING WITH DAVID FOSTER & KATHARINE MCPHEE at Providence Performing Arts Center
December 6, 2022

It was one of those shows that you did not quite know what to expect. Being an 80's kid, I knew the mastery of David Foster, mostly from my infatuation with Chicago, but didn't know if this show with singer-songwriter and wife Katharine McPhee would be more of a hit concert redux or a Christmas show or something completely different. It proved to be a wonderful mix of all.

Review: SENSE & SENSIBILITY at Burbage Theatre Company
Review: SENSE & SENSIBILITY at Burbage Theatre Company
November 22, 2022

What did our critic think of SENSE & SENSIBILITY at Burbage Theatre Company? When it comes to Jane Austen, it's typically a love-hate relationship. My wife, so deep into the former category, worried how I would take Burbage's Rhode Island Premiere of Austen's SENSE & SENSIBILITY since I am not as familiar with Austen's work. But, in the end, she had little to worry about.

Review: FOOTLOOSE: THE MUSICAL at Theatre By The Sea
June 27, 2022

What did our critic think of FOOTLOOSE: THE MUSICAL at Theatre By The Sea? So for the sake of full disclosure, I am an 80's kid at heart. It's the only music I listen to (maybe a little 70's too because of my older sister) and Footloose has always been one of the best 80's soundtracks bar none.

BWW Review: FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS at Burbage Theatre Company
BWW Review: FIVE WOMEN WEARING THE SAME DRESS at Burbage Theatre Company
March 21, 2022

For those who have ever been in a wedding party, you know the drill. Who the hell are these bridesmaids or groomsmen that we are weirdly matched up with?  Do we even know them, or, more importantly, how much do we really know the bride or the groom (or both) at all?

BWW Review: CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE at Providence Performing Arts Center
BWW Review: CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE at Providence Performing Arts Center
December 22, 2021

When typically going into a theatre performance, you have either seen the play before or heard about it in some way so you go in with certain expectations. The great thing about 'Cirque Dreams Holidaze' was, with never seeing a performance, we had no idea what we were in for, a visually stunning performance that proved to be magical.

BWW Review: PRETTY WOMAN - THE MUSICAL at Providence Performing Arts Center
BWW Review: PRETTY WOMAN - THE MUSICAL at Providence Performing Arts Center
October 13, 2021

I'm not the biggest fan of romantic comedies-so predictable and just too much, well, drama you know? Probably why the movie studios have shied away from these over the past 18 months. Who needs more depression? But THE 1990 PRETTY WOMAN has always been a rare feather in the Rom Com hat and the launching of the North American Tour of PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL at the Providence Performing Arts Center proved no different.
