TTC Hosts Acting Workshops for Children & TeensApril 10, 2012The Theater Company of Hoboken (TTC) believes in encouraging tomorrow's stars today. They've cast regional youth in productions for years and had many workshops, and not for naught given
several of their students have gone on to starring and supporting roles on and off-Broadway, as well as locally, press notes state. This time, TTC is offering two workshops - one aimed at kids and the other at teens. Both will be taught at TTC's Studio - C413 at Monroe Center for the Arts, 720 Monroe St., Hoboken, NJ.
Joan Jonas Brings Her Multimedia Show to the McCullough Theatre, 5/4-5April 10, 2012Seminal video and performance artist Joan Jonas presents her cutting edge multi-media video performance, The Shape, the Scent, the Feel of Things, May 4 & 5 at the McCullough Theatre. Since the 1970s, Jonas has worked between various mediums, freely incorporating video, movement, music, sculpture, and the spoken word into open-end narratives. Featuring original piano score written and performed live by Jason Moran, this collaborative work evokes the American Southwest through an artistic consideration of the Hopi snake dance, a ritual that affected Jonas during visits to Arizona in the 1960s.

The Lantern Announces 2012/13 Season to Include NEW JERUSALEM, HENRY V, HEROESApril 10, 2012Now in the midst of a record-breaking year, Lantern Theater Company announces the productions scheduled for its 2012/13 season. The Lantern opens its 19th season with a remount of David Ives' New Jerusalem, The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza at Talmud Torah Congregation: Amsterdam, July 27, 1656, the best-selling play in the company's history and featuring the original cast and creative team from the original 2011 production. This limited return engagement is followed by the Philadelphia premiere of The Liar, also by Ives, a sophisticated comedy of lies and love adapted from the French play by Pierre Corneille. Mid-season, the Lantern completes Martin McDonagh's Leenane Trilogy (A Skull in Connemara, The Lonesome West) with the darkly comic The Beauty Queen of Leenane. Lantern Associate Artistic Director Kathryn MacMillan will direct both The Liar and The Beauty Queen of Leenane. In the spring, Lantern Artistic Director Charles McMahon directs Henry V, William Shakespeare's epic journey through royal courts and battlefields. The season concludes with Heroes, a playful, bawdy, and heartbreakingly funny comedy by Tom Stoppard, adapted from Gerald Sibleyras' Le Vent De Peupliers and directed by Lantern affiliated artist M. Craig Getting.
