Playwrights Horizons will present the New York premiere of COMPLETENESS, a new play by Itamar Moses (The Four of Us, Bach at Leipzig). Directed by Obie Award winner Pam MacKinnon (Clybourne Park at PH, The Four of Us, Occupant, Peter and Jerry), the production will begin previews Friday, August 19 at 8PM with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, September 13 at 7PM. The first production of the theater company's 2011/2012 Season, the limited engagement will play through Sunday, September 25 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater. The annual Broadway's Rising Stars features students from theatrical institutions throughout the country, including AMDA, CAP21, Steinhardt, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Carnegie Melon, Marymount Manhattan College, and The New School. These future performers make their debut on The Town Hall stage in what has become a national showcase. Scott Coulter is the director, with choreography by Vibecke Dahle and musical direction by John Fischer.

Gingold Theatrical Group continued its sixth sold-out year of PROJECT SHAW yesterday with Shaw's first commercial success, the rarely produced satire FANNY'S FIRST PLAY which was initially written anonymously.

Broadway Sings Tori: a Benefit for RAINN, which celebrates and supports the work of the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, took place yesterday, June 27th at New World Stages. The evening featured songs written by 10-time Grammy nominee Tori Amos, who was the first spokesperson for RAINN.

Yesterday, June 22, Billy Elliot welcomed their 1,500,000th audience member at matinee performance. As patrons entered the theatre, tickets were scanned and the lucky, 1.5Mth audience member was revealed during the curtain call. Trading Spaces star Paige Davis, Volunteers of America (VOA) Greater New York volunteers, Girl Scouts and students filled donated backpacks to kick off VOA's Operation Backpack campaign, which begins June 27th. The drive collects brand-new, grade-specific backpacks and school supplies for children in New York area shelters, so they can begin the school year with confidence, feeling more like their housed classmates. Parents of children who benefitted from the program were on hand, along with BroadwayWorld who was there to capture the heartfelt event.

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing firms, presented the inaugural Off Broadway Alliance Awards Reception yesterday, June 21, 2011 at Sardi's. The 2010 Tony winning Best Musical MEMPHIS has announced a partnership with The Great Atlantic Pacific & Tea Company (A&P) to raise money for New York-area Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Beginning July 4, 2011, customers at all A&P, Pathmark, Food Emporium, Waldbaum's, Food Basics, Super Fresh and Best Cellars stores will be asked to make a donation to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals at the register.

Paper Mill Playhouse hosted its Center Stage Celebration on Friday, May 13th at the Hilton Short Hills.
