BWW Review: WAYS OF DYING – superb staging at The BaxterNovember 14, 2020It’s an incredible piece that seems almost naïve in story to being with but reveals a depth that is both disturbing and deeply impactful. The production of this story that is currently on at The Baxter’s Flipside Theatre is an adaptation created by Lara Foot.
BWW Review: EGOLI THE MUSICAL is full of heart at Masque TheatreFebruary 9, 2020There's nothing quite like the sound of voices harmonising perfectly through both joy and sadness. EGOLI THE MUSICAL promised a story a?oefilled with fully harmonic singing that is cultural, rhythmic, African, and heart-rendinga?? and they delivered on many fronts.
BWW Review: A toe-tapping trip down memory lane with FOR KINKS AND COUNTRYFebruary 5, 2020The 1960s really is a magical era a?" the fashion, the music, the revolution in the air. FOR KINKS AND COUNTRY aims to take you right back there through the incredible music of The Beatle, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark and, of course, The Kinks.
BWW Interview: Sue Diepeveen chats about the RE-OPENING of The Drama FactoryJanuary 29, 2020The Drama Factory in Somerset West has become something of an institution for patrons in the area. The theatre has been around for three years already, and has had some incredible talent treading the boards. In December 2019, owner Sue Diepeveen undertook a big move and has relocated her theatre to a bigger building just around the corner.
BWW Review: Go on an emotional rollercoaster with THE HUCKSTERS at the BaxterJanuary 26, 2020Louis Viljoen's script is intense and in your face a?" and I like it. The characters are real, complex and decidedly messed up, and in some ways, pretty relatable. We all have dark thoughts and the desire to tell people exactly what is on our minds. This play just pushes things to the extreme.

BWW Review: Belinda Davids is Whitney in THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL: A TRIBUTE TO WHITNEY HUSTONNovember 25, 2019What an absolute treat to see an amazing South African performer standing centre stage and showing us all of her incredible talent, all the while knowing how much she is also loved and respected as a performer around the world. South African born Belinda Davids has an extraordinary set of pipes on her and commands the stage as well as I imagine Whitney Huston would have done.
BWW Review: TWO TO TANGO from The Drama Factory is real and relatableNovember 3, 2019It's a very real and relatable story about a superficially liberal white couple negotiating post-apartheid challenges. They're also negotiating the tricky time of life when their nest is about to become empty as their two teenaged daughters head off to university and the real world.
BWW Review: THE FUGARD BIOSCOPE SEASON 2020 is Full To Bursting With Something For EveryoneOctober 23, 2019On Monday 7 October, audiences were treated to the opening of the Fugard's Bioscope World Arts Cinema Season for 2020. This project is now in its ninth year of running, and is really just a wonderful idea. It's not that South Africa isn't full of incredible talent and that the shows we put on here aren't world class a?" far from it! But, it is nice to see what is happening out there in the world and to get the opportunity to see some incredible live performances from big stars that many of us would have to basically bankrupt ourselves to see over in the USA or the UK.
