Westport Country Playhouse's (Westport, CT) artistic director Anne Keefe issued the following statement in regards to the death of Paul Newman, who had been associated with the Playhouse since 2000, 'The Westport Country Playhouse board of trustees and staff are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Newman, a compassionate humanitarian. Our hearts go out to Joanne Woodward and her family, who have shown extraordinary strength and spirit during this difficult time'.

Paul Newman, star of stage and screen lost his long battle with cancer on Friday he was 83 years old. A celebrated actor he had won numerous awards, including an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Cannes Film Festival Award, and an Emmy award, along with many honorary awards.

Wicked, of one Broadway's most popular musicals honors its upcoming fifth-anniversary with a special re-release of its top-selling cast album. The new fifth anniversary edition includes the original Broadway cast recording of Wicked plus a second disc full of bonus songs, including pop stars LeAnn Rimes and Delta Goodrem in a new recording of 'For Good.'

EQUUS officially opens on Broadway tonight, it began previews on September 5. EQUUS will play a strictly limited engagement through February 8, 2009. Four-time Tony Award-nominee Tovah Feldshuh has returned to the New York stage in Irena's Vow, a new play by Dan Gordon, now running at Baruch Performing Arts Center - 55 Lexington Avenue @ 25th Street (between Lexington & Third Aves). The new drama marks Ms. Feldshuh's first New York stage appearance since her triumphant (and Tony Award-nominated) turn in Golda's Balcony (Broadway's longest-running one-woman show).

Brandi Burkhardt has starred in the Los Angeles Reprise! Production of Li'l Abner and in Jekyll & Hyde: Resurrection. BWW TV discussed with her what a pivtol role her character plays in the story, the magic of Charles Dickens words and how excitied she is to be a part of this epic production.

As an actor Ron Sharpe made his mark on Broadway in such shows like Les Miserables, The Civil War and The Scarlet Pimpernel, he has just returned to the Great White Way, but not as a performer, this time he is the executive producer, along with his wife, actress Barbara Russell, of A Tale of Two Cities, the new musical which opened on Broadway Thursday, September 18th. BWW TV spoke to him on the eve of the show's opening night about his nine year adventure in bringing A Tale of Two Cities and his Broadway dreams to life.
