Four young people, ranging in age from 11 to 16, met the challenge of writing, directing and producing their own plays for the 2010 One Act Festival at the North Coast Repertory Theatre in Solana Beach. The One Act Festival will be presented on May 14-16. Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities and Executive Producer James A. Blackman, III proudly present A Midsummer Night's Dream written by William Shakespeare and directed by Ovation Award winner Stephanie A. Coltrin. The show opens with previews May 26, 27, 28 and the Gala Press Opening night will be Friday, March 29 at the Hermosa Beach Playhouse. This is the final show in the 2009/2010 Season for the Playhouse.

In celebration of California's Day of Recognition honoring Harvey Milk on May 22, Diversionary Theatre will present two readings of the play Dear Harvey. Drawn from over thirty interviews conducted by Patricia Loughrey, Dear Harvey recounts the achievements and vision of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man elected to a major public office in the United States. The tribute play weaves together the voices of a drag queen, a State Senator, an international gay rights activist, a nineteen-year-old composer and others with the personal and political writings of Harvey Milk to paint a portrait of a leader, and a vision for equality.
