Following their last appearance at the Fringe in 2007 with cult hit Chronicles of a Sleepless Moon, internationally acclaimed Melbourne-based trio The Suitcase Royale return with their new show The Ballad of Backbone Joe. Ably straddling theatre and comedy, the show looks set to be one of the must-sees of this year's fringe.

Following the Fringe First winning success that was The Rap Guide to Evolution, Baba Brinkman returns to the Fringe with The Rap Guide to Human Nature, a show that goes beyond Darwin to mine the deeper seam of contemporary evolutionary psychology, using his finely wrought rhymes to consider not just who we are, but why we behave the way we do.

Bud Take the Wheel is an exceptionally written tale of a family at odds with itself and the changing world. At its heart is the wish of every young person who grew up rural anywhere - the need for flight, the wish to escape. Bud Take the Wheel chews up rural entrapment, spits up countryside clichés and writes a twisted love song to our green and pleasant land.

Australia's raunchiest, cheekiest and most raucous circus brings its hilarious witty parody of traditional circus to the Edinburgh Fringe for the very first time. Circus Trick Tease come to Underbelly's E4 Cowbarn fresh from wowing audiences at the 2010 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe with their incredible displays of acrobatics, heart stopping three-person-high balances & precarious human skipping rope.

The world premiere of Touching the Blue, the debut Edinburgh play from writer-director Joe Wenborne, comes to the Assembly Rooms this festival with previews having already caused excitement in the snooker world, with former world champions and industry figures sending plaudits.

Mark Rylance (Valere), David Hyde Pierce (Elomire) and Joanna Lumley (The Princess) are joined by Stephen Ouimette (Bejart), Lisa Joyce (Marquise-Therese Du Parc), Greta Lee (Dorine), Robert Lonsdale (Rene Du Parc), Michael Milligan (De Brie), Liza Sadovy (Catherine De Brie) and Sally Wingert (Madeleine Bejart) as rehearsals begin for Matthew Warchus' production of David Hirson's La Bête.

Theatre503 opens and closes the theatre tent at Latitude, presenting more work than any other company, all created uniquely for the event. We re-write the rules of festival theatre with a momentous world premiere by award-winning Matt Hartley, and push pop theatre to its limits with nine brand new shorts all inspired by this year's music acts.
