This Award-Winning play, with music by Joshua Schmidt and a libretto by Jason Loewith and Joshua Schmidt, is adapted from The Adding Machine, written in 1923 by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Elmer Rice. Generally considered to be the first American Expressionist play, it is the story of a man who, after 25 years of service to his company, is replaced by a mechanical adding machine.

Based on T.S. Eliot' Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS won seven 1983 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting and Best Original Score.

JERSEY BOYS opened at the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway to critical acclaim on November 6, 2005. The JERSEY BOYS National Tour opened to rave reviews in San Francisco on December 1, 2006, played a record breaking run in Los Angeles and is still breaking house records in cities across North America. The Playhouse New Year's Eve Celebration features The Latin Jazz Project, a nine-member band performing the music of Duke Ellington, Chucho Valdes and other Latin-Jazz greats. Kicking off the 2009 season is Edward Albee's Occupant, which examines the life of acclaimed American sculptor Louise Nevelson. Born into a Ukrainian Jewish family, Nevelson's family immigrated to America when she was a young child.

JUST THE FUNNY, Miami's Home for Improv and Sketch Comedy, will be performing a special goodbye to 2008 hello to 2009 set of shows called Wasssup 2009! on Saturday, January 10, at 9 pm and 11 pm, at The Just the Funny Theatre & Training Center located at 3119 Coral Way in Miami. The 9 pm shows are family-friendly, all-ages shows, and the 11 pm shows are anything goes.

Playwright Paul Rudnick has written some of the funniest plays seen both on and off Broadway, including The New Century, Valhalla, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, I Hate Hamlet and Jeffrey, for which he won an Obie and an Outer Critics Circle Award. His articles and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, Esquire, Vogue, Vanity Fair and The New York Times. His is rumored to be quite close to Premiere Magazine's film critic, Libby Gelman-Waxner. His screenplays include Addams Family Values, the screen adaptation of Jeffrey, and In & Out. The New York Times calls Rudnick 'one of the funniest quip-meisters on the planet.'

Backstage with Alan Campbell, offered on Thursday, February 12th 7:00-8:00pm, takes enrollees backstage with Alan Campbell, Tony-Nominated Actor, and star of 'Sunset Boulevard' on Broadway with Glenn Close, and the hit musical 'Contact' at Lincoln Center. Alan has numerous other stage and screen credits such as long-runs in TV's 'Jake and the Fat Man' and 'Three's a Crowd.' Alan will share his 'backstage Broadway stories,' helps us understand 'the business of show business,' and relate an insider's view on how a Big Broadway Musical gets from the first reading all the way to Opening Night. As an added bonus, Alan will give you a 'behind the scenes' look at the production of 'Doubt' that he's starring in for Gulfshore Playhouse. Enrollment is $20 per person and $10 for students.

'This really is a magical season for our Children's Theatre Series,' said Education Director, Rachael Endrizzi. This one-hour version has toured Miami-Dade County High Schools and Middle Schools for the past several weeks. It is adapted and directed by Mad Cat Theatre Company Artistic Director Paul Tei and features three of South Florida's leading actors-- Erik Fabregat, Deborah Sherman and Margie Eisenberg. Leonard Nimoy studied these letters and retells Vincent's story in Vincent's own words. Veteran award winning actor Dan DePaola recreates the world of the misunderstood genius giving the audience insight into the turbulent life and times of the great painter. Nimoy's powerfully moving play was performed on Broadway by Nimoy himself.

The Lake Worth Playhouse continues to offer eclectic programming in its 2008-2009 season, kicking off the holiday season with a diverse menu of musical fare. A playful family holiday musical leads the line-up, followed by a concert series that includes a New Year's Eve jazz concert, a local Klezmer band, a Valentine's Day swing celebration, a world-renowned doo-wop group and a nine-piece jazz-rock band.

The original Broadway production of ANNIE won seven 1977 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Book and Score. It ran for 2,377 performances and has subsequently been produced all over the world. The original production is one of the top 20 longest running shows in Broadway history, and ANNIE continues to be one of the most successful musicals ever.
