Tootsie is a new musical based on the 1982 film starring Dustin Hoffman. The story follows Michael Dorsey ('Is he an actor? Yes, of course, he is. Is he successful? Yes, of course, he's not') and the opening number immediately makes his rotten reputation evident and known.

The Orpheum Theatre Memphis published an unfortunate news release last night, pertaining to the current show Disney's The Lion King. The remaining four performances of The Lion King have been cancelled, due to breakthrough COVID-19 cases among the cast and crew.

Disney's The Lion King roars its way back into Memphis and audiences are thrilled to welcome the popular show back to the Orpheum stage! Always a Memphis favorite, the show is pure magic for its audiences, adults and children alike. 

The Lion King returns to the Orpheum Memphis Theatre this November and Memphis is celebrating some new young talent!

Broadway WILL be back! And it's happening this fall! I am very excited to announce that Orpheum Theatre Group has finalized its Broadway season with some new dates to look forward to! COME FROM AWAY, which has been rescheduled from 2020, marks the return of Broadway to Memphis in October, and then the season kicks off with the return of THE LION KING in November.

Overall, David Grieg's book, along with Marc Shaiman's and Scott Wittman's music, make for a fun family show with plenty of laughs. The audience will leave with some sweet memories. It's not to be taken seriously; just a lighthearted piece of art with vibrant costumes, a very diverse range of music, a few dark moments sprinkled here and there, dancing squirrels, and of course, singing oompa-loompas!
