Season´s opening: Das Tagebuch Anne Frank at Theater an der Wien

Emotional, passionate but also oppressive music is at the center of the opening concert of the season 2015/16: Igor Stravinsky's L'histoire du soldat music is not much connected to the text, but can also exist without him. Contained therein jazz elements adheres to an enormous power and just in the instrumental parts Stravinsky offers the public a range of musical expectations, he, however, largely unfulfilled leaves. Very concretely contrast, Grigori Frid's two-piece Mono opera designed The Diary of Anne Frank, the the famous diary is based almost verbatim. 21 short pictures portray Anne Frank's life across the period of the diary and make a musical-lyrical narrative. Frid - whose centenary is this year celebrated in September - feels the music in the soul Franks in and leaves despair, fear and persecution equally resound like the fugitive glimmer of hope.
