For 10-years anniversary of the reopening of the Theater an der Wien as a new opera house in the city of Vienna will receive the two composers that are important for the history of the house, a place with two anniversary concerts: in addition to Beethoven's Fidelio, we present Mozart's Idomeneo under the baton by René Jacobs, one of the most important conductors of the repertoire of the 18th century, who coined with the most lasting, the profile of the Theater an der Wien in the last decade.
With Idomeneo, composed for the carnival at the Munich Court (1781), the young Mozart tried already an innovator of opera of his time: He combined forms of French opera with which the Italian and integrated Chorus and Ballet. Since Mozart was in Munich one of the best orchestras of the time available, the instrumental colors play in the score a more important role than in all his other operas. Subtly suggested Mozart alone with the orchestral sound psychological exceptional situations the characters: A father,
is to sacrifice his son; a son who loves against the wishes of his father, a sad, captive princess; an offended princess and an angry God - the drama takes place in the furious music.
