The 50th Anniversary Tour
Richard O'Brien's brilliant ROCKY HORROR SHOW is back on tour: feather boas, Heels, cross-dressers, and loads of sing-alongs. It is an undoubted masterpiece, with its illustrious characters, audience participation, and, apart from all the Hot Patooties, a timeless and essential story.
The magic of Rocky Horror is still driving audiences crazy (indeed, Vienna's Audience is somewhat different, more exclusive). 50 Years of Horror is an achievement nobody expected back in the days when everything started, but here we are, still enjoying the bad, bizarre piece of musical history.
The show kicked off in Berlin and is now touring Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
Vienna welcomes the show with Sky Du Mont and Arabella Kiesbauer as (boooring) Narrators. As an actor, you know it will be a fabulous evening when you step out on stage and the crowd goes wild. That's what happened when Sky Du Mont welcomed Vienna's Audience on Opening Night.
It went out to a night we all remember for a very long time: loud, sexy, full of Rock' n Roll, and loads of Audience participation. (My vocal cords have been very tired afterward.) Confettis, squirt guns, newspapers, clappers, feather boas, and play cards were involved in Opening Night's performance. If you are unfamiliar with the items mentioned, click here to learn how to use them properly.
Back in heels and straight out of the UK Tour of Pretty Woman, Oliver Savile ( Frank'n'Furter) leads the cast with overwhelming power and energy. Christian Lunn, also no stranger to the show, is recreating his performance as Riff-Raff and nailing it with some so-called money notes.
Sydney Hocknell (Janet), Jed Hoyle (Brad), Stephanie Chandos (Columbia), Melissa Nettleford (Magenta), Alexanda O'Reilly (Rocky), and Rob Falconer (Eddie/Dr. Scott) are honoring Richard O'Brien's creation, loud, sexy, and with loads of Rock n' Roll.
It is 50 years and counting. May the Time Warp live forever so that our children's children enjoy the jump to the left as much as we do.
The show is in Vienna until December 14th. For further information, visit www.rocky-horror-show.de
