Based on the famous German Musical movie from the 1930s starring Willy Fritsch, Oskar Karlweis, the legendary Heinz Rühmann, and Lilian Harvey, the stage adaptation is coming to Vienna's Metropol after a successful run at the Schloss Weitra Festival. The story is about three friends, Aris Sas (Willi), Vincent Bueno (Hans), and Benjamin Rufin (Kurt), who went from wealthy gentlemen to broke fellows who even have to sell their beloved car and start working at a filling station to afford a living. All three fall in love with Lili, the charming (and wealthy) customer. Everything is set for an entertainingly funny evening at the Metropol.

The 1930s movie brought something fresh to the silver screen and influenced how Musical films were created.

Like the movie, the show is packed with well-known songs, some of them All-Time classics in the German music repertoire. You might have heard some of them before.

"EIN FREUND, EIN GUTER FREUND"

Dr. Peter Hofbauer's legendary METROPOL in Vienna 17th District (also known as Hernals) is well-known for its unique musical creations, and this one is no exception. Sometimes, it's a tightrope dance between cheap shots and well-deserved punch lines. Peter Kratochvil (Director) kept the plot on a very sketchy edge without losing its charm, and there is loads of it. Apart from the catchy tunes, the Cast fills the room with warmth and laughter.

It is rare to witness such an experienced group of actors creating theatre magic before you. The sound of the 3os is combined with swinging dance routines and very Viennese jokes; the score might be the show's body, but its heart and soul are the Artist, a rather unusual and entertaining experience.

DIE DREI VON DER TANKSTELLE plays at the METROPOL on selected dates with Missy May, Caroline Vasicek, Melanie Oster, Laura Luisa Hat, Aris Sas, Vincent Bueno, Benjamin Rufin, Ronny Kuste and the legendary Andy Lee Lang with Music by Werner Richard Heymann, Lyrics by Robert Gilbert, adapted for the Metropol by Dr. Peter Hofbauer.
