Seraphim Trio is as much a lifelong friendship as a chamber ensemble. Acclaimed for its encyclopedic projects and inventive collaborations, their sonic cohesion and uniform musical mastery is a constant in all its performances.Their performance in Primrose Potter Salon will seem them collaborate with violist Christopher Moore to present Imaginary Ballet, the breathtaking new composition by Brett Dean.Inspired by Bretts lockdown listening, Imaginary Ballet is a suite of fast, dance-like movements which carry rhythmic drive and bullish, effervescent energy. A series of slower interludes endows the work with oases of silhouettes and shadows, at the centre of which is an elegy to Bretts dear friend and former viola teacher, John Curro. Paired with a rarely heard piano quartet by one of Croatias most important 20th century composers, Dora Pejaevi. Written in late Romantic style, the quartet is a blend of warm, lyrical melody and spirited dance. Mozarts Piano Quartet in G minor remains a cornerstone of the repertoire and is the first major piece composed for the genre.
