Audiences will be delighted by the absurd comedy and touching humanity of Couch Potato, wit incorporated's first show for 2016.
wit incorporated Company Manager Jennifer Piper features in the Australian premiere of Hayley Lawson-Smith's hilarious take on what makes us tick and how we deal with the unexpected. Directed by wit incorporated Artistic Director Belinda Campbell, and featuring some of Melbourne's finest independent theatre actors, Couch Potato opens at Bluestone Church Arts Space on Friday 12 February at 8pm.
Set in a Footscray living room in 1998, Robert Hazlehurst (Mark Salvestro) lives in a holding pattern. He never moved out of home, and nothing has changed since his mother died two years ago. His life is organised by his sister, Lisa (Jennifer Piper), and his best mate Lorrie (Luke Styles).
The one day The Girl (Jessica Lawrence) appears. On the couch. Asleep.
Nobody is really sure why she's there, because she doesn't wake up, but everyone is trying to figure out how to keep their balance in this very unbalanced situation.
"This story is heart-warming, heart-breaking, and bizarre," says director Belinda Campbell. "The chaos of three people trying to navigate each other, while always trying to keep their cool, makes for a series of hilarious moments. This show will have you in stitches."
This is a strictly limited season, so book early to avoid disappointment.
