It's been two years since Wayne Tunks' one man show, "Everything I Know I Learnt From Madonna" filled the seats at La Mama for Midsumma. Well this year, Wayne's back with another ode to Madonna, THE GIRLIE SHOW, the story of five young people meeting in line for Madonna's Girlie Show tour in 1993.

Written by acclaimed writer Wayne Tunks, this is his fifth Midsumma show. His previous work has included, "37 Ways To Say I'm Gay", "Everything I Know I Learnt From Madonna" , "Silvertop Ash" and "Fag Boy & the Married Guy", which sold out its season at La Mama in 2013. Wayne moved to Melbourne in 2010 to work as a storyliner for TV's "Neighbours".

It's 1993 and Madonna is visiting Australia for the first time. For fans Jason, Mary, Sam, Natalie and Derek this is what they've been waiting for. While in line for tickets the five become inseparable, sharing friendship, love and an obses- sion for the Queen of pop.

Sam may only be 16, but he's out to his Dad and looking for love in the all wrong places. Natalie is a pop singer who's close to a record deal, if she can only keep her sexuality a secret. Mary is a good Catholic girl whose parents have no idea she's been idolising the wrong Madonna. And Jason is just trying to deny his feelings for Derek.

After the show's premiere in Melbourne, Wayne takes the show to the Sydney Mardi Gras for a season at the old 505 Theatre in Newtown.

Loaded with the fashions and music of the 90s, THE GIRLIE SHOW is about coming out, rebelling and finding acceptance - a true pop culture playground!
