University of Adelaide Theatre Guild's ANTIGONE Runs Now thru May 26 - Edwin Kemp Attrill Directs

By Special Arrangement with Dominie Pty Ltd, the Theatre Guild of the University of Adelaide presents ANTIGONE by Jean Anouilh, translated by Lewis Galantière, in a production directed by Edwin Kemp Attrill at Little Theatre, The Cloisters, University of Adelaide today 12, Tues-Sat 15-19 & 22-26 May 2012.

Antigone is the story of a determined young woman’s defiance of authority as she rises up to stand alone against the King. In a world of law and order, Antigone stands in defiance of the King. She is determined to fight for her brother. She is destined to die.

Originally written by Sophocles in approximately 442 BC, Anouilh’s version still resonates today as a story of a dysfunctional family whose violent infighting leads to devastating outcomes. It is a tale of private conscience versus public duty and of family responsibilities

The cast are Michael Baldwin, Karen Burns, RoseMary Jackson, Sara Lange, Lesley Reed, Nicole Rutty, Tony Sampson and Adrian Skewes. The production is designed by Lillian Chester and sound designed by Rory Chenoweth.
