In celebration of Sydney Theatre Company's Greening The Wharf project we will be hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary The Future Makers as part of our STCinema program on Monday 26 July at 6:30pm.

With recent attention on global warming, there's been a big focus on the problem, but what about the solutions?

The Future Makers tells the story of eminent scientists in Australia who are leading the way on the world stage in renewable energy. Some are designing a future based on models in nature. Others are creating a sustainable energy model for a 21st Century economy. This documentary explores the visions of these leaders and follows them as their projects unfold. People creating solutions that won't cost the earth.

The Future Makers premiered on Discovery Channel and has screened at the 2009 Rhode Island Film Festival, Toronto Planet in Focus Film Festival and Pacific International Documentary Film Festival 2010. It was Highly Commended for Best Social Awareness Programme in the Asian TV Awards 2009 and nominated for the Zayed Future Energy Prize 2010.

"An exciting snapshot of the emerging sustainable energy industry in Australia"
Sara Phillips, G Magazine.

This special STCinema screening will be followed by a panel discussion with director Maryella Hatfield, Eureka Prize winner and solar scientist Nicole Kuepper, and University of NSW's Professor Alistair Sproule.
