Girls dressed as guys picking up the way men pick up women. Too long have the secrets of pick-up culture been hidden by hetero-men. All singing, all dancing and all pick-up line rapping girl trio The Desperettes are here with their show "A Guide to being a Wingman" to give everyone a chance at finding "love".

If you're not familiar with the term "Wingman", it is simply a name for the person who helps you out when approaching potential partners. Originating from the movie Top Gun this term is usually reserved for guys, however, Melbourne cabaret trio The Desperettes are adopting these techniques and applying them to the modern lady.

Their show A Guide to Being a Wingman takes you on a hilarious and eye-opening night out which includes pick-up lines, daggy dancing and that all-important first move. The girls defy gender as they highlight not only how ridiculous the world of dating has become, but also the gender stereotypes associated with it. "We wrote the show hoping that people would stop taking all the "rules" of dating so seriously and make fun of men and women alike in a completely fun and ridiculous way," laughed Natasha York, the show's producer and co-writer.

The Desperettes feature Daisy (Belinda HAnne Reid), Delilah (Ashy Rose) and DeeDee (Tash York) who work professionally in Melbourne singing, performing and producing cabaret. As a result you can expect this show to have impressive vocals and tight 3 part harmonies as these girls sing a huge soundtrack of pop anthems from Destiny's Child, Shania Twain and Salt-N-Pepa. Get the crew together and join the Desperettes on their quest to be the ultimate Wingladies... you might even pick up a few tips yourself!
