The Australian Music Vault Choir Project is entering its second year with a new batch of fantastic Australian songs arranged for school and community choirs.

The Australian Music Vault Choir Project gives teachers and choir leaders the opportunity to use two or three-part arrangements with piano and instrumental parts arranged by some of Australia's finest choral arrangers, Sophia Exiner (Melbourne Indie Voices), Vicky Jacobs (Glee Club), Kathryn Sadler and Mark Puddy.

"One of the goals of the Australian Music Vault Learning Program is to increase access to Australian music for schools and community music groups, so I'm extremely excited for these new choir arrangements to be released. We want to help teachers who would like to sing more (or at all) with their students, and choir leaders who are looking for great arrangements of contemporary Australian music. The many benefits of group singing make it vital that everyone has the opportunity to sing in some form plus, it's super fun!" Creative Learning Producer, Programming Amy Bennett said.

The new songs include music by Birds of Tokyo, Crowded House, Emily Wurramara, Gordi, Hunters and Collectors, Missy Higgins and The Seekers, adding to the repertoire already available including music by Archie Roach, Killing Heidi, Midnight Oil, Paul Kelly and Sia.

New arrangements include -

  • Birds of Tokyo - 'Lanterns'
  • Crowded House - 'Don't Dream It's Over'
  • Emily Wurramara - 'Black Boy'
  • Gordi - 'On My Side'
  • Hunters and Collectors - 'Holy Grail'
  • Missy Higgins - 'Everyone's Waiting'
  • The Seekers - 'Keep a Dream in Your Pocket'

Existing arrangements include -

  • Archie Roach - 'Beautiful Child'
  • Killing Heidi - 'Weir'
  • Midnight Oil - 'Forgotten Years'
  • Paul Kelly - 'Leaps and Bounds'

Arrangements are available for free and can be requested via the Australian Music Vault website. Auslan translations are also available and can be requested.

The Australian Music Vault Learning program has partnered extensively with the music industry in its school and public programs for music fans and music makers. This has allowed authentic connections with artists, technicians and other industry professionals from whom access to time and expertise has been extremely generous. The Australian Music Vault Choir Project offers a sense of belonging to those who love to sing.

The Australian Music Vault is a key initiative of the Victorian Government's Music Works Package, supporting and collaborating with the music industry. It charts the story of contemporary Australian music from the 1950s until today showcasing the iconic people, events and places that define Australian music.
