The acclaimed new production from Australia's renowned outdoor theatre producers, Tinkerbell and the Dream Fairies, returns to the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne fresh from a sell out tour to London's Kew Gardens.
Following rave reviews for their premiere season last summer, Glenn Elston's (The Wind in the Willows, Alice in Wonderland, Caribbean Pirates) enchanted production is back from 28 December - 28 January with an interactive adventure for children aged 3-6. Full of activities, acrobatics and magic it is sure to enthrall the young ones these school holidays. Tickets are on sale now from www.shakespeareaustralia.com.au or call 03 8676 7511.
In Tinkerbell and the Dream Fairies, the adventurous Tinkerbell happens upon the fairies from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Travelling from the dream forest, the cheeky Mustardseed, fluttery Moth, daring Cobweb and sweet Peasblossom all go on a magical quest with Tinkerbell, learning about the different worlds they are from. On the way, Dewdrop - a small fairy played by acrobatic sisters Cierra (8) and Cameron (13) Shook - creates a flurry of fun.
The award winning artistic director of the Australian Shakespeare Company, Glenn Elston, imagined this special show for young audiences from many years creating theatre in magical garden settings.
"In all the years we performed A Midsummer Night's Dream in the gardens, the fairies always entranced our smallest spectators. Building the fairies into a show for children - with the mischievous Tinkerbell - seemed like a natural fit. The wonderful response in London as well as in Melbourne makes us feel like we're onto something that is entertaining and ignites the imaginations of our audiences!" says Glenn.
The show was developed with early learning experts to ensure it truly engages and inspires young minds and bodies.
There is singing, dancing and a special adventure to 'Bubble Land' where audience members are asked to help the Fairies find their wings. So pack a picnic and join in the magic!
Find the fairies under the trees on Oak Lawn, three skips, a jump and a flutter from the Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden.
