THE THREE DEATHS OF EBONY BLACK at the Butterfly Club this May Image

Following a wonderfully successful premiere season at Perth's FringeWorld earlier this year, award winning writer/composers Amberly Cull and Robert Woods are set to delight Melbourne audiences with this touching new work.

The Three Deaths of Ebony Black follows the life and death of a sweet old lady with a not so extraordinary life.

This gorgeous three-act play is based on the quote by neuroscientist David Eagleman:

"There are three deaths. The first is when the body ceases to function. The second is when the body is consigned to the grave. The third is that moment, sometime in the future, when your name is spoken for the last time."

Each death is brought to life in it its own genre and with its own style of puppetry. The dark subject matter is playfully subverted with a sprinkling of absurdity. "Think Death at a Funeral meets The Muppets and you're not too far off!" says writer and performer, Amberly Cull.

A two hander between Cull and Nick Pages-Oliver, the show lovingly brings to life ten beautifully hand-crafted puppets by Danny Miller (King Kong, Walking with Dinosaurs), and features an all original score by Cull and Woods.

Amberly Cull's previous show, "The Point of Light" was first runner up in music and musicals at Perth Fringeworld 2016 and was chosen as a part of the Grassroots Initiative an program for Australian music theatre writers in 2017.

Praise for 'The Three Deaths of Ebony Black':
