THE PROCESS Comes to The Butterfly Club

Ever been locked up for wanting to live in a peaceful land? What's it like to run for your life, to survive the ocean only to be treated like a criminal in a place you thought was safe?

Written by Ian Robinson, The Process is a sharply observed satire throwing much needed light on the plight of refugees detained in camps; simply because they've arrived on our shores by boat. Angered by the changes to the Australian immigration policy over two successive governments, Ian was inspired to write the story of Rajoo Mahilingham, a fictional character, who represents the stories of those detained in a political limbo.

Rajoo Mahilingham is a Tamil refugee. In Sri Lanka he saw his wife and daughters raped and murdered. He was tortured. He escaped and ran for his life via boat, to Australia; the lucky country with boundless plains and wealth for all to share. For reasons unknown to him he's been deemed both a genuine refugee and a security risk; and so the merry go round - with his life at the centre - begins.

Directed by John Gauci (Power Without Glory, The Trial of Ned Kelly) and with a talented cast made up of Rajendra Moodley, Paul Watson (We Will Rock you), Emma Louise Pursey and Lisa Dallinger, The Process is for anyone who has an opinion on the Asylum Seeker debate.
