After sell-out seasons across an 18 month Australia wide tour, a triumphant tour of New Zealand and a Helpmann Award for Best Contemporary Australian Concert, The Man in Black is returning to Her Majesty's Theatre in Adelaide for a limited six performance season from 11 – 15 September. Bookings are now open through BASS outlets.

Australian rock legend Tex Perkins takes to the stage in this sensational two-hour concert featuring the legendary songs of Johnny Cash interwoven with the story of his rise to stardom, his fight for survival and his eventual redemption.

Cash, who died in 2003, was one of America's most influential country music stars. He sold well over 50 million records in his lifetime and his music is still selling today. Johnny Cash was dealt a very tough hand early in life, but through his music and dedication he became a legend throughout the world.

The challenging life of the music superstar and his legacy of powerful hit songs will be brought to life with all the laid-back intensity of The Man himself in The Man in Black.

Written by Australian theatrical producer Jim McPherson (writer of the smash hit show starring Rick Price, The John Denver Story: Take Me Home Country Road), who confesses to a 40-year fascination with thewildly unpredictable star, The Man in Black features the hits Ring of Fire, I Walk the Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Sunday Mornin' Coming Down, Get Rhythm, A Boy Named Sue, Hey Porter and more.

Renowned as one of the wildest men in Australian rock, singer with the multi-ARIA Award-winning Cruel Sea, Beasts of Bourbon and Ladyboyz, Tex Perkins will lead The Tennessee Four in a night of magnificentmusic. It's a lethal combination when Perkins plays one of the most influential American singer songwritersof the 20th Century.

Tex Perkins grew up in Brisbane, starting his first band, Tex Deadly and The Dum Dums before moving to Sydney. When he is not touring or recording, Tex lives in Byron Bay.

He is riveting in The Man in Black, totally immersing himself in the role, sharing electrifying chemistry with Rachael Tidd who tells the story of June Carter.

The show is a roller coaster ride of emotions for the audience from the opening I Walk the Line, to the Folsom Prison Blues to the closing Ring of Fire.
