Magic, music, mime and mayhem, puppetry and pizza will explode across the kitchen in Theatre Beating's The Magic Chicken at Arts Centre Melbourne's Fairfax Studio from 8 - 12 July.
Direct from New Zealand this slapstick treat of culinary chaos follows two "underllectual" chefs in a Seussian kitchen who cook up a hilarious concoction of anarchic-mime physical comedy, live music and puppetry.
As the half-baked heroes juggle pots, knives and snarling customers, their lives are interrupted by the arrival of an unexpected feathered friend. The orders in the run-down bistro are coming thick and fast, but can our dumb waiters stop the caper from turning to custard?
The clucky young lady soon has the besotted chefs wrapped around her wing tip, until a ravenous customer stirs the situation up into a casserole of confusion. Will our plucky chicken escape the pot? Will the wolfish customer get his just desserts?
The Magic Chicken mixes mime, puppetry, slapstick and live music on stage in a cartoon kitchen to delight both children and their families.
