Get up close and personal to the most intimate moments of the human romantic experience. Derived from Kotryna's "The Nursery Web" which had a sellout premier at The Butterfly Club in February, "The Cocoon" challenges the audience on the constructs of romance, gender and sexuality. Covering love from all angles, "The Cocoon" delves into the caverns of innocence, desire, love lost and found.
Produced by the veteran Northern Theatre Company, The Cocoon is presented in a series of vignettes which the audience is encouraged to actively respond to; the vignettes take place amongst the audience so anyone who enters can be a part of the experience in a whole new way. Get caught in the nauseating cycle of a breakup, fall smitten for the first time, agonize alongside in the heartbreaking blows of unrequited desire and let your heart melt with these visceral and universal tales of love.
The Cocoon is a relevant, honest and deeply familiar work that will hit you right in the feels. Challenging preconceived notions on sex, gender identity and romance this unique theatre experience is one you're sure to never forget. Bring your partners, your secret crush or your single girlfriends and join us for a glass of red and an intimate evening in The Cocoon.
"Written by New-Yorker-turned-Melburnian Kotryna Gesait, The Nursery Web holds a mirror up to the way we behave in love." - BWW, Victoria Beal
"In telling stories about romantic relationships, it does away with clichéd ideas of what men are to women. It eschews cheesy rom-com tropes, instead giving us characters which are relatable and real." - The Plus Ones, Christian G.
