Hot on the heels of its April/May success, this new version of Chris Wallace's show opens at The Butterfly Club in South Melbourne on Tuesday, 9th August and runs through Sunday, 14th August. TALL POPPY BLUES is wall-to-wall Chris Wallace songs. The music varies from country to gospel to jazz to ballads to show tunes to kids' songs and even has a tap number thrown in for good measure- something for everyone. This is not an evening of nostalgia. This is an original and unique marriage of musical theatre and cabaret. If Musical Theatre and Cabaret had a baby, this would be it!

Audiences know Wallace better as an actor than a songwriter (In America, the holiday horror classic, New Year's Evil, the soap opera, All My Children, The Incredible Hulk and other television series; In Australia, Stingers, Wilfred, Blue Heelers, the upcoming ABC series The Slap, Who Wants to be a Terrorist, among others, and in both places his one man show, The Mark Twain You Don't Know). Wallace wrote the book, music and lyrics for Nothing to Wear, a musical that had two seasons at the Fairfax Studio Theatre in the Victorian Arts Centre. He also wrote songs for several children's musicals in America and for the award-winning home video, Strong Kids, Safe Kids.

"TALL POPPY BLUES has all the ingredients of all its predecessors, six in L.A. and one here," Wallace says, "with a couple of new additions to keep it interesting. I've been lucky enough to keep finding talented singers from a variety of ethnicities who create a multicultural rainbow on stage." Saralouise Younger, Amelia Ryan, Ed Deganos and Karlis Zaid make up the cast with Cameron Thomas as musical director and Enzo Roberto on double bass.

The Butterfly Club is located at 204 Bank Street, South Melbourne. Times are Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday at 8 pm, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 9 pm. Tickets available online at www.thebutterflyclub.com or at the box office.
