Australia's Sandgate Theatre will be holding auditions next week for their Christmas play, I.B.I.S... I BELIEVE IN SANTA.  The play calls for 2 adult elves, up to 6 dancers, 1 man to be the Detective, as well as some singers. Auditions will be on Tuesday September 15th and Thursday September 17th at 7:30 pm at the Sandgate Town Hall. I.B.I.S is an original script by Darryl Nicol and will be directed by Chris Packman and Christine Linning.

Synopsis: It's too much work for Santa so Mrs. Claus and the Head elf suggest Fred Claus - Santa's brother, should be contacted. Fred agrees to help and opens the South Pacific Santa Organisation.

The performances will be November 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 15th (matinee), 20th, and 21st.

SandGate Theatre is a community theatre, operated on a not-for-profit basis. As we seek community involvement, there are no charges beyond membership charges. If you are not already a member, then enrollment will be requested if you are successful. All roles are also voluntary, hence no roles are paid.

No preparation is required prior to attending, except to bring along a fun and outgoing attitude. Many auditions are performed informally, depending on the size of the play and the number of candidates.  If you would like to try for a specific role, please let the director know so they can take this into consideration. Generally speaking, the director will perform the audition.

If you are successful for a part, then a copy of the script is provided and a schedule of rehearsals. Generally the schedule is based around:
Tuesday nights - 7:30-9:30
Thursday nights - 7:30-9:30
Sunday afternoons/evening - 1:30-9:30

To ensure the best success, attendance to all required rehearsals is required. Naturally if this is not possible, please discuss with the director as early as possible to allow workarounds to be made.
Performances are generally on a Friday and Saturday nights for 3 weeks with the option of a matinee on a Sunday.

All costume/props borrowed from the theatre should be returned at the completion of the show.  As SandGate Theatre shares the location, some assistance with set-up/pull-down would be appreciated. Sometimes this can be between shows.
