SandGate Theatre's 2009 Theatre Restaurant Jungle Fever will be auditioning on Sunday the 24th of May starting at 12 noon (through to 5pm) with performances on: 31 July 2009, 1 August, 7 August, 8 August, 9 August (matinee), 14 August, 15 August
Two retired British army colonels stumble across a bracelet in a stall in the old bazaar in Casablanca. The bracelet belongs to the missing heiress of the great Mumulgum Castle. The missing heiress is a niece of one of the colonels, so they decide upon a quest to find and rescue her.
They enlist the service of a jungle guide (an African Queen) and the not-so-brave Jungle Patrol to help them. They are followed by the heiress's evil half sister who intends to claim the inheritance herself! She is in cahoots with a witch doctor, who is the advisor to a long lost jungle tribe whose members are all women.
The production also features a dashing hero, plenty of corny one liners and humorous innuendos.
Written by Peter Allen and Wendy Farenden. Sharyn Donoghue and Kent Wagner will be directing.
Unless otherwise stated, auditions are held at the Sandgate Town Hall. Normally they are held in the last week of the previous performance starting (on the Tuesday and Thursday) at 7:30pm.
Cost/Pay SandGate Theatre is a community theatre, operated on a not-for-profit basis. As we seek community involvement, there are no charges beyond membership charges. If you are not already a member, then enrollment will be requested if you are successful. All roles are also voluntary, hence no roles are paid.
Preparation No preparation is required prior to attending, except to bring along a fun and outgoing attitude. Many auditions are performed informally, depending on the size of the play and the number of candidates.
If you would like to try for a specific role, please let the director know so they can take this into consideration.
Generally speaking the director will perform the audition.
If you are successful for a part, then a copy of the script is provided and a schedule of rehearsals. Generally the schedule is based around:
Tuesday nights - 7:30-9:30
Thursday nights - 7:30-9:30
Sunday afternoons/evening - 1:30-9:30
To ensure the best success, attendance to all required rehearsals is required. Naturally if this is not possible, please discuss with the director as early as possible to allow workarounds to be made.
Performances are generally on a Friday and Saturday nights for 3 weeks with the option of a matinee on a Sunday.
All costume/props borrowed from the theatre should be returned at the completion of the show.
As SandGate Theatre share the location, some assistance with set-up/pull-down would be appreciated. Sometimes this can be between shows.
