The Broadway rock musical sensation 'Rock of Ages' will make its Australian premiere in April 2011 with a run scheduled for Melbourne's Comedy Theatre, as per an announcement today from Tourism and Major Events Minster Tim Holding.

Of the Melbourne engagement, Holding says, "This is going to draw a lot of people to our theatre precinct, a lot of people to experience theatre perhaps for the first time and we think that's just great news for Melbourne."

In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker-and in LA's most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the ‘80s. It's ROCK OF AGES, an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Bon Jovi, Poison and many more. Don't miss this awesomely good time about dreaming big, playing loud and partying on.

ROCK OF AGES is currently playing at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, located at 256 W. 47th St. New York.
