Random Musical is a 'one of a kind' performance especially for kids and families from the award-winning creators of Spontaneous Broadway. Playing Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre from 29-30 September during the 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival, kids and families will help create the script for Random Musical that will be performed on-the-spot by talented comedians Scott Brennan, Rik Brown and Gillian Cosgriff.
Before the curtain rises kids write "random" words onto cards, which the brilliant cast use as the inspiration for their spontaneous musical performance.
From a pet shop with sharks to a runaway dinosaur, no two shows are ever the same. Featuring live accompaniment from legendary pianist
John Thorn, Random Musical is a show kids and families can see again and again - and always experience something different.
After the performance, kids and families can also partake in the School of Random Workshop where they can learn the 'tricks of the trade' of improvisation. A hands-on 60 minute workshop full of fun music and drama activities, the workshop will teach kids the rules of improvisation and how to create songs, characters, scenes and stories on the spot. The workshop will be led by the stars of Random Musical, Brennan, Brown and Cosgriff.
"Random Musical is a real treat for the budding stars of tomorrow," said Robin Penty, Manager, Creative Culture. "Not only can kids and families help construct the script for the fantastic performance, but those wanting even more can get involved in the workshops, which are a wonderful introduction to musical theatre for kids."
