11 local writers, 5 comic actors and 2 satirical geniuses will poke fun at politics and pop culture when Queensland Theatre Company presents TAKING AIM.
TAKING AIM is presented as part of The Works - Queensland Theatre Company's annual season of professional script readings. For five weeks 11 Brisbane writers have been working closely with Australia's leading lampoonists Max Gillies and Guy Rundle to create the new script.
Max Gillies says "If you've laughed at The Chaser's War on Everything, Frontline or The Gillies Report, then don't miss TAKING AIM - an evening of comic punches that hit well below the belt."
Max Gillies is one of Australia's favourite political satirists and through his television shows and theatrical performances has lampooned Australia's most notable politicians, businessmen, writers and personalities as well as international leaders and persons of pop cultural interest.
Guy Rundle is co-editor of Arena magazine, a regular contributor to Crikey.com and a writer and producer for television and stage. His most recent works include the critically acclaimed Max Gillies' stage shows Your Dreaming, Godzone and No Country for Old PM's.
11 Local Writers: Melanie Arnost, Belinda Cargill, Leah Cotterell, Bette Guy, Peter Ireland, Robert Kronk, Jim McDonald, Sean Melville, Elizabeth Pulsford, Walter Sofronoff, Alastair Tomkins.
5 Comic Actors: Bridget Boyle, Louise Brehmer, Adam Couper, Daniel Murphy and Bryan Probets.
