Queensland Theatre Company presents Harold Pinter's Betrayal - a tale of a passionate love affair based on the Nobel Prize winner's life. Starring Sibylla Budd, Paul Bishop and Hugh Parker, the story unfolds in reverse, allowing audiences to continue questioning how the affair started, with the knowledge of how it ends.

Robert and Jerry share many things - they work in publishing, have long lunches together and are both in love with Robert's wife Emma. Jerry and Emma betray Robert for seven years with their romance, and after it ends we discover that they were betraying each other as well.

Director Jon Halpin says "Betrayal is one of Pinter's most enjoyable plays - it's dramatic, intelligent and compelling. What also sets it apart is how Pinter manipulates time, taking us backwards and forwards through the memories of Jerry, Robert and Emma."

Betrayal is considered to be Nobel prize-winner Pinter at his best, and the play is based on one of his publicly known affairs with a UK television presenter which occurred during the 1960s. Pinter's career spanned 50 years, and he received a Companion of Honour and an Order of the British Empire for his work. He died in December 2008.
