In a world of cyber-bulling, Facebook and consumerism can the constantly-stimulated Gen Y handle a show about... waiting? Queensland Theatre Company presents an Education Performance of Waiting for Godot - Nobel Prize winner Samuel Beckett's iconic play about life, the universe and patience.

Director Joseph Mitchell commented "Waiting for Godot is a show that everyone should see at least once in their life. It's a play that skilfully balances philosophical questioning with outrageous comedy and, at its very heart, a search for hope and belonging.

"With a cast that includes some of Brisbane's most talented and respected actors, the production will no doubt be a memorable one for both new and seasoned audiences."

Waiting for Godot opens with two men waiting on a desolate road for the arrival of another man, Godot. They pass the time with philosophical debate, petty arguments and game playing. Funny sad, trivial and profound in every moment, the characters typify something about us all, as we strive to understand a world which has many more questions than answers.

All performances are open to the general public as well as students and special evening performances have been scheduled on Saturday 24 April and 1 May.

Born in Dublin in 1906, Samuel Beckett was one of the one of the most influential writers of the 20th century and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969. He spent most of his life in Paris and died there in 1989. His plays include Endgame, Breath, Not I, Krapp's Last Tape and Happy Days.
