Photo Flash: NEXT TO NORMAL Makes Melbourne Premiere

Now through May 28, 2011, the Melbourne Theatre Company will present the Australian premiere of the 2010 Pulitzer-Prize winning Broadway hit, Next To Normal. The production, which is being directed by Dean Bryant and musical directed by Matthew Frank, will star Matt Hetherington and Kate Kendall.

The musical, featuring music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, tells the story of suburban mother Diana Goodman lost to herself and her family. Soon, there is a doctor, a diagnosis and a course of treatment, however the family soon realizes that the cause of this case of ordinary madness lies beyond medicine and therapy.

Winner of three 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical Score, Next to Normal is one of the most talked about shows Broadway - and chosen as "one of the year's TEN best" by major critics around the country including the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Rolling Stone and The New York Times.

Next to Normal is presented through special arrangement with Hal Leonard Australia Pty Ltd. on behalf of Music Theatre International. The original Broadway production is produced by David Stone, James L Nederlander, Barbara Whittman, Patrick Catullo and Second Stage Theatre.
