This is a first for Australian ballet lovers! Leo Scofield AM and The Friends of The Australian Ballet are delighted to announce the Australian Premiere film screening of the Paris Opera Ballet's production of Rudolf Nureyev's Swan Lake, filmed live in HD at the Palais Garnier, December 2016.

Tickets include champagne on arrival and a prescreening introduction to the film by ballet aficionado Leo Scofield AM. Mr Schofield is renowned across Australia for his knowledge and contribution to the arts having created and presented many arts festivals and for bringing the Paris Opera Ballet twice to Australia.

Drawing on ancient Slavic and Norse mythology where destiny is often born out of the mysterious forces of nature, Swan Lake has become a legend in its own right. Tchaikovsky's first ballet score is imbued with a deep sense of nostalgia, echoing the composer's own experience of love as elusive as it was impossible. In Rudolf Nureyev's 'Freudian' version, conceived for the Paris Opera Ballet in 1984, Prince Siegfried's role is elevated to that of the hero.

Starring principal dancers Amandine Albisson (Odette/Odile), Mathieu Ganio (Prince Siefried), François Alu(Rothbart).

This world premiere is brought to Sydney in conjunction with the Palace Opera and Ballet featuring the mesmerizing music from Tchaikovsky, performed by the Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Paris.

Swan Lake, from Palais Garnier, screens as part of the 2017 Palace Opera & Ballet Cinema Season.

Tickets available through the Friends website: www.fab.org.au or ph: 02 9252 7322
