The phrase "open your heart" is explored in new dance work Potential from Tuesday 30 September - Sunday 5 October, 2014. Choreographer and yoga teacher Janine Proost takes inspiration from her yogic vocation and has created a dance to the heart, from the heart, and about the heart. Expect group hugs, hot water bottles, karma sutra-esque poses and plenty of heartfelt moves.

Through its inventive dance language and audience participation, Potential reveals the link between our body and soul as four performers venture into the depths of our most 'loveable' organ. In the same way yoga attempts to align body and mind, Potential seeks to explore the relationship between our material world of flesh, bone and blood, and the immaterial world of thoughts, emotions and energetic exchange.

Created, choreographed and performed by practicing yoga teacher Janine Proost, Potential will be a participatory dance experiences like no other where performer and audiences alike are enabled to 'live up to their full potential'. Having just returned from a creative development in Taiwan with Mirramu Dance Company, helmed by Australian dance pioneer and ADT founder Dr Elizabeth Cameron Dalman OAM, Proost's full potential as a dancer and choreographer is tantalisingly within reach.

Presented as part of Speakeasy's Melbourne Fringe Festival season, Northcote Town Hall will be transformed into a satellite Northside festival hub with a mini-season of 5 award-winning and Melbourne premiere productions. Presenting a cross-section of contemporary dance, side-splitting comedy and a rock n' roll concert like no other, Melbourne's Fringe Festival will come to life in this one-stop-shop for all art-lovers from Wednesday 17 September - Sunday 5 October, 2014.

Darebin Arts' Speakeasy program of independent theatre is the home of cutting-edge performing arts north of the Yarra. Presenting a year-round program of new, exciting and dangerous theatre productions from around Australia, Speakeasy seeks to enliven the greater Melbourne area with world-class art and performances.
