Two icons of Australian Theatre, Nancye Hayes and Reg Livermore, take to the stage for the world premiere tour of Turns - a reflection on identity, family, show business ... and completely losing your marbles! Turns will be performed in Adelaide at Her Majesty's Theatre from 4 - 16 April as part of a national tour.
Pantomime star Marjory Joy is on her last legs (or is she?). 95 years old, she lives in a large fusty old flat on Sydney's lower North Shore. Her life flashes before her eyes and she relives some of its finest moments: recalling her fabulous career in show biz, and remembering the hordes of stage door Johnnies, all those fabulously handsome and wealthy men who used to throw themselves at her fabulous feet. Sharing her memories we meet her doctor, her best friend, her husband whose name she's forgotten, her two beloved Chihuahuas, and her son Alistair. As she reflects on a life spent in show business (or was it?) Alistair tries to understand this woman, all women - and to come to terms with one woman in particular...
"I shan't reveal too many details of the Turns plot; as the writer I like an audience to enter the theatre, put themselves in my hands and go on a journey" says
Reg Livermore. "I don't want them to know or even suspect where I'm taking them or to second-guess what's at the end of it. I like to surprise them".
Let these two legends,
Nancye Hayes and
Reg Livermore, take you on a theatrical journey which will surprise and delight you, as Nancye & Reg do what they do best: sing, dance, make you laugh, and much, much more...
Turns brings together a kaleidoscope of theatrical styles to create a richly entertaining, whimsical, very funny and ultimately moving theatrical event. Don't miss it!
