Musical Theatre Star Silvie Paladino Joins Arts Centre Melbourne's Christmas Melodies Concert

Musical theatre star Silvie Paladino and special guest Nathan Stark will herald the arrival of the festive season in Arts Centre Melbourne's Christmas Melodies at Hamer Hall on 11 December 2017.The Salvation Army Melbourne Staff Band and National Boys Choir will join the pair for some feel-good Christmas entertainment to round off a year of exciting Morning Melodies performances.

Silvie Paladino is considered one of Australia's most versatile and much-loved entertainers. She started her career with the theatrical role of Eponine in the Australasian tour of Les Misérables and later performed the role in the London production on the West End.

Paladino's other performing credits include her one-woman show Silvie Paladino Sings Streisand, the role of Jeannie in Hair, Grizabella in Cats, Ellen in Cameron Mackintosh's Australian premiere of Miss Saigon, Donna in Mamma Mia!, Rita in the world premiere of Sideshow Alley and, for The Production Company, Lady Thiang in The King And I, Florence in Chess, Clara in Passion and Jerry's Girls. Paladino is also well known to Australian audiences through her popular appearances on Carols by Candlelight.

Tenor Nathan Stark has performed in the Opera Conference's world premiere production of The Merry Widow, and the restaging of John Copley's production of Lucia di Lammermoor with West Australian Opera. Other performing highlights include playing Mister Cellophane in The World Goes Round, and Daniel Gillen in the Australian premiere of The Beautiful Game. Nathan is also a long serving tutor with the Australian Girls' Choir, in both Sydney and Perth.

Arts Centre Melbourne's acclaimed Morning Melodies started in 1985 when performer Betty Pounder and producer SAndy Graham decided it was time to make good use of the empty Playhouse on a Monday morning. They had a brainwave to break theatre tradition and invite people in during the day. More than thirty years on, Morning Melodies has presented more than 450 concerts and welcomed almost half a million audience members, making it a quintessential Melbourne experience.
