At a time where most companies are pulling in the reigns, one Australian entertainment company has announced it's expansion into the Asian market. Melbourne based TML Enterprises have formed a strategic partnership with Korean based True Company to create a seemless touring circuit throughout Australia and Asia including Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong.
The first project is the Broadway musical Jekyll and Hyde currently auditioning prior to it's premiere at the prestigious 3,000 seat Sejong Arts Centre in Seoul in August prior to a tour of Asia and Australia.
The new production, directed by John Diedrich (Titanic, South Pacific) and choreographed by Jo Anne Robinson (Cats, Phantom of the Opera) will feature an Australian cast.
Tim Lawson of TML Enterprises who have been producing and managing major theatrical productions in Australia and New Zealand for 14 years says " the new partnership not only will provide greater opportunities for Australian performers and crew, but also for both companies' investors".
Han Lim of True Company says "with TML are forming a circuit with partners in the UK and US which will allow us all to share costs, risks and physical elements of each musical and maximise the longevity and benefits of each investment"
Productions to follow Jekyll and Hyde include Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida and Never Forget.
