The Butterfly Club is proud to be part of the second annual Melbourne Cabaret Festival, Tuesday 19 to Sunday 24 July.
The Festival will present non-stop cabaret within South Melbourne's historic Emerald Hill arts and cultural precinct, of which we are part.
It will feature the best of home grown talent and a selection of acts from interstate and overseas across seven venues, with new cabaret shows starting every 15 minutes from 6.15pm till late. There will be over 100 performers in 36 cabaret shows from comedy cabaret, musical theatre stars, New York styled acts, vaudeville, ‘dark and edgy' cabaret and queer shows.
All shows now on sale at
http://melbournecabaret.com (for festival shows book here rather than via thebutterflyclub.com).
The Butterfly Club is hosting three excellent cabaret shows throughout the Festival: The Beautiful Losers, Blokelahoma!and Waitressing, and Other Things I Do Well.
And of course, when you're not seeing a show in the Festival, our ground floor and upper level lounges and bars will be open for drinks and snacks.
The Beautiful Losers
This multi award winning horror show of male depravity was founded at The Butterfly Club six years ago and went on to great acclaim, with even the then Leader of the Liberal Party, Dr Brendan Nelson, telling the nation's media at the steps of Parliament House that the show "would offend the vast majority of Australians".
We can't ask for better endorsement of the show than that.
The Beautiful Losers are
Mark Jones, Mike McLeish and Karlis Zaid. In this new show they sing and narrate darkly comic tales as a cast of murderers, stalkers, life coaches and Jesus freaks.
‘4 Stars - Breathtaking, challenging, disturbing and excellent ... Combines brains and the profane' - The Age
‘A glorious dissection of the dregs of life' - DB Magazine Adelaide

Blokelahoma!
The Melbourne Cabaret Festival teamed up with the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Brisbane Cabaret Festival and The Noosa Long Weekend to create a national presenting prize for the winner of the annual Sydney Cabaret Showcase.
Having tenaciously fought his way through several competitive heats to win the event, we're delighted to welcome Toby Francis in his debut show Blokelahoma!
Toby has an edgy young rock'n'roll outlook balanced with a soft and sentimental side, in a show about the ‘every man' of the stage and what it means to be a bloke ... in cabaret!
Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 July, both shows at 7.00pm
$33 / $30
60 minutes approx

Waitressing, and Other Things I Do Well
Although fresh out of uni, Gillian Cosgriff is already being described as the female
Tim Minchin ... so you can imagine how excited she was when told that she would be performing on the very stage where Tim got his start.
A singer, songwriter, pianist, and waitress, you cannot fail to fall in love with this witty and intelligent new talent, so remember where you saw her first ... she was probably serving you coffee.
Friday 22 to Sunday 24 July, all three shows at 7.00pm
$33 / $30
60 minutes approx
