Max Riebl Brings Hard to Handel to The MC Showroom Image

Max Riebl, one of Australia's finest singers breathes fire into classical music. Exploring the world of baroque and contemporary pop, this show breaks down the old and stale conventions of classical music, interpreting baroque masterpieces in a contemporary frame and contemporary ballads with drama and world class skill. This is a show about Handel, superstars and the history of pop. This is the third and FINAL season of Hard to Handel. Hot off the success of a sold out run at the Melbourne Cabaret Festival, the show returns for one final performance that is not to be missed.

Biography Max has appeared as a soloist throughout Australia, Europe and the UK with baroque ensembles such as the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, La Cetra Baroque Orchestra, the London Handel Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria as well as a number of symphony orchestras and contemporary ensembles.

He has performed in the Sydney Recital Center, the Melbourne Recital Center and Hamer Hall, the Forum, the Vienna Musikverein and Royal Albert Hall. He studied baroque performance at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Gerd Turk.

He has received top prizes in the Herald Sun Aria, IFAC Australian Singing Competition, The London Handel Competition, the Chicago International Singer Competition and the Royal Philharmonic arias. He has begun branching out into the festival scene, creating shows for the Melbourne Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, St Kilda Festival and The Cabaret Festival.

"Caressing roundness" Sydney Morning Herald "Breathtaking, a true artist" Australian Stage "Astonishing" The Age 'Remarkable countertenor" The Herald Sun 'Riebl is no pretender, no interloper - he is the real deal' The Barefoot Review "I would far rather her Riebl sing Morrissey than Sting sing John Dowland" 5MBS
