Canberra's hottest new hip-hop cabaret artist, MC KREWD is set to explode onto the Melbourne's cabaret stage with her diabolical tragi-comedy Drizzle From The Sizzle.
Born out of the powerhouse production company, KREWD, the production fuses hip hop, original and reimagined songs with grotesque burlesque to shed light on issues of class, abandonment and motherhood.
Drizzle From The Sizzle is a satirical, pop-culture-laden show that focuses on "turning dire circumstances into blessings," says the show's artistic director, Katie Woodward. "Behind every stereotype there is a story of humanity and there is life. Social and political constructs keep people reliant on a welfare system for survival, yet vilify the very people created within it."
MC KREWD is a by-product of experimental theatre/event company, KREWD, who have produced over 20 productions including A KREWD Chorale and A KREWD Night. It is the mother company to A KREWD Ensemble and comic duo The KREWD Sisters. This production will be their Melbourne debut.
Drizzle From The Sizzle opens on Wednesday the 20th of May and runs for five nights. Audiences should be aware that the show features coarse language and themes. It is rude, lewd and, above all, KREWD.
