American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer, Kurt Vile brings his debut solo show to the Concert Hall, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) for one-night only on Thursday 9 March 2017.

Performing his latest studio album b'lieve i'm goin down..., Vile produces a cohesive acoustic experience that musically marks his departure from an electric guitar experience to include a range of instrumentation from the banjo and piano to the lapsteel and synth.

With a music career that began after his bluegrass-loving father bought him a banjo, Vile began recording himself at home by the age of 14; heavily Influenced by Pavement, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Tom Petty, and John Fahey.

From there, the Philadelphia native began collaborating with singer and guitarist Adam Granduciel in 2005. Naming themselvesThe War on Drugs the duo shortly began morphing into a realised band; including more members, releasing albums, and touring to critical acclaim and larger audiences.

By 2008, Vile amicably parted with the band to pursue his solo career. After signing a record deal in 2009, he released multiple records with his backing band The Violators.

Vile signed to Matador in 2011 for the release of his fourth, and more subdued, full-length album Smoke Ring for My Halo; his best received work yet, meeting critical praise and charting on Billboard.

Opening for his friend Kurt Vile, for this one night only concert, Australian musician Mick Turner will be performing his highly acclaimed solo work. Turner has had a dynamic and celebrated career both as a founding member of Dirty Three along withhis solo project.

Releasing four LPs on the iconic US label Drag City (Bill Callahan, Joanna Newsom, Ty Segall), Turner has been labelled "one of Australia's most distinctive guitarists".

An act not to be missed; Kurt Vile supported by Mick Turner for one night only in the Concert Hall, QPAC on Thursday 9 March 2017. Tickets are on sale now via qpac.com.au or 136 246.
