Cosgriff is an award-winning musical comedian (Winner Best Cabaret Melbourne Fringe 2013, Winner Green Room Awards Original Songs 2013) who has garnered rave reviews and toured extensively across Australia. Drawing on personal experiences has always been the key to her work and This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things is no exception. "Almost everything in this show is true. Names have been changed to protect the innocent," she says, "but some real names are included to incriminate the guilty."

Gillian Cosgriff is one of Australia's foremost musical comedians and she's about to make her debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but she'd like to test it out on her favourite audience first at The Butterfly Club in Melbourne.

This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, is the age-old saying that has been trotted out by mothers for generations - usually when something valuable gets destroyed. You buy a new phone, you smash it running for the bus. You treat yourself to expensive nail polish, it spills all through your handbag. You go on a date with someone lovely and then you call them up drunk at 3am just to 'hang out'. On a Tuesday. This is why we can't have nice things.

Gillian Cosgriff is fascinated by the idea of trying to improve yourself, to become a better person, but constantly struggling against your true nature. Through her charming and funny original songs Gillian asks: How can you have nice things when your nature is to destroy them? Perhaps some people are better off always drinking safely from plastic cups than risking breaking the fancy glassware.

Australia, this is your last chance to see This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things and with only six shows it's sure to sell out. Gather your friends and book now at www.thebutterflyclub.com.
