Jacqui Dark and Kanen Breen are two of Australia's leading operatic performers, and between them have won a slew of awards for their stunning portrayals of Opera's finest characters. In their new cabaret production, Strange Bedfellows, they play their darkest and rawest characters yet: themselves.
Strange Bedfellows showcases their unique aptitude for merciless character assassination, settin the tone for an evening of dubious ditties, salacious story-telling and shameless one-upmanship. Covering their own unique family life, a penchant for the distasteful and demuir and two of Australia's finest voices, Strange Bedfellows is not for the faint hearted.
As recently profiled in "The Two Of Us" the duo have a life as unique and diverse as their own biographies. On stage they have played the lead roles in shows such as Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme, The Mikado and Don Giovanni. Off stage they play co-parents in a completely non-traditional (but deeply happy) family unit. This production showcases the highs and lows of both worlds.
So climb into bed with this diabolical duo as they take a midnight journey through the mean streets of Kurt Weill's Weimar Berlin, down the dark alleys of verboten Broadway, and into the insidious underworld of their own original material, exploding the boundaries of good taste with a hydrogen C-bomb.
Strange Bedfellows opens on Wednesday the 18th of February and runs for 5 nights. Bookings are highly recommended.
