It's time to pick your team! Impro Melbourne invites audiences to improvisation's most cutthroat competition. Join us at The Space on Sunday evenings for Theatresports™, a night of improvised stories from the comedic to the dramatic. This fast-paced and family-friendly format sees teams competing in improvised challenges, using audience suggestions as the inspiration for stories, characters and songs. Impro Melbourne's players are at the top of their game and ready to compete for comic supremacy!
Created by Keith Johnstone, the Theatresports™ format is about diverse performances and embracing stories of life, politics, religion and love. Players take risks, and the audience walks away feeling challenged and entertained. More than just a show structure, Theatresports™ represents a philosophy and approach to improvisation that challenges points of view and expresses opinions.
Theatresports™ is an enthralling and energetic show - the audience plays an integral role throughout the evening, the judges award points to teams, and our scorekeeper keeps an eye on proceedings... this year the stakes are high! Teams are competing for a chance to play in the 2015 Grand Final, part of Impro Melbourne's celebration of 30 years of Theatresports™ in Australia.
This season is directed by IM co-artistic directors Katherine Weaver (producer of the Soap-a-thon) and Patti Stiles (Veteran Improviser and artistic director of the International Theatresports Institute). The cast features all of the Impro Melbourne players and very special weekly guests.
Date and time: Sundays at 7:30pm, July 19 - Sept 6 at The Space - 5 Carlton Street, Prahran. Tickets: $15 advance / $18 on the door. Visit www.impromelbourne.com.au for more details.
