It is hard to believe that it has been 8 years since the Choir of Hope and Inspiration (Formerly the Choir of Hard Knocks) began, and to mark the occasion 'Now We Are 8' celebrates the choirs 8th birthday with a wonderful concert, conducted and compered by the Choir's Founding Music Director, the ARIA, Logie and Helpmann award winning Dr Jonathon Welch AM.
Since their first rehearsal back in September 2006, the Choir of Hope and Inspiration has been highly acclaimed and awarded for their hard work, talent and commitment. The ongoing and regular contact and support the Choir provides to its members continues to have an incredibly profound and significant effect upon their lives.
Many of the original members are still with the choir and continue to sing every week, and it's time for them to celebrate all their hard work and amazing achievements with over 400 concerts and thousands of hours of rehearsals since our humble beginnings on September 13, 2006.
"Now We Are 8" will be performed on Saturday September 13th at Deakin Edge, Federation Square at 3pm. This concert will help to raise essential funds to support the Choir and help to keep them singing, Jonathon said.
Jonathon and the Choir are thrilled to be joined by a stellar cast in this celebratory concert, with guest performers including internationally acclaimed concert pianist Hoang Pham; renowned soprano Rosamund Illing; Dino Kocic, the current Piano Accordion Australian Champion and the winners of the 2014 Melbourne Eisteddfod A Capella choir section,Harambee.
