After two sell-out seasons in Perth, cabaret starlet AnaLisa Bell is bringing her spoof cabaret, Gold-digger: the shags to riches story of Australia's Iron 'Ore, to Melbourne, to be part of the 2011 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. From Mar 31 - Apr 3, The Butterfly Club in South Melbourne will become home to Rosie Portelou*.

Love her or hate her she has taken the world of tabloid magazines by storm. From her days in the Philippines, to her infamous marriage to mining magnate Sam Bankock*, and then of course, Billy*, AnaLisa Bell takes a closer look at the life of Australia's most outrageous socialite.

Gold-Digger had its origins at the 2009 Short and Sweet Cabaret Festival in Melbourne, where Analisa was named a Finalist. Featuring popular tunes such as It Had to Be You and Madonna's Material Girl, and original compositions like Poodle Ballet and Pethidine Polka, composed by Perth's very own Tim Cunniffe, this tongue in cheek cabaret is sure to have you in stitches!

*Please note: Any similarities in character or story to existing people are purely coincidental. This show also contains adult themes.

What the media had to say about the Perth seasons:

We've had Shane Warne the Musical and Keating!, but IC reckons the next big hit Aussie show could be a musical homage to someone who looks a lot like our very own Rose Porteous... an absolute gem of a cabaret show

Inside Cover

The original songs... give Bell's bravura talents fullest scope.

AnaLisa Bell graduated from WAAPA's Certificate of Music Theatre course in 2000 and has since performed in various shows, from musicals such as IAJ International's Oklahoma!, to plays such as The Vagina Monologues, for which she won the 2007 ITA Best Actress award, as well as several sell-out cabaret shows in Perth and Melbourne. She has toured WA for several theatre companies and has also worked in radio for the Austereo network and Hot Hits Carnarvon WA. Analisa has been a proud member of Equity since 2006.
