Absent Friends transforms the humble tea party into a romping comedy through Ayckbourn's notoriously dark-humoured lens. The production kicks off Glen Street Theatre's 2015 season from 28 January.
Diana and Paul invite a few friends over to comfort Colin, an old friend who is recently bereaved. During the impossibly funny madness and havoc that ensues, Ayckbourn places a magnifying glass over the trials and tribulations of married life.
Renowned theatre director, Mark Kilmurray (The Glass Menagerie, Other Desert Cities) has assembled a stellar cast including Helpmann Award-winner Darren Gilshenan (The Servant of Two Masters, Rake), Michelle Doake (The Wharf Revue, Puberty Blues), Richard Sydenham (Clybourne Park, Home & Away), Jessica Sullivan (Charitable Intent, Face to Face), Brian Meegan (Frankenstein, Macbeth) and Queenie van de Zandt (King Kong, Winners & Losers).
